Flood Risk Assessment, Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Jun 26, 2013

RAB Consultants has recently prepared a Flood Risk Assessment in support of a proposed commercial development along Brightside Lane in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

A Flood Risk Assessment was required for this site because it is located in close proximity to the River Don and is within the Environment Agency's Flood Zone 2 outline.

The following activities were carried out as part of the assessment:

* A site visit to assess the site and surrounding areas flood risk;

* Data collection, including the Environment Agency's most recent modelled flood data for the * River Don in Sheffield;

* Liaison with the Environment Agency, Sheffield City Council and Yorkshire Water;

* Preparation of a Flood Risk Assessment report in accordance with the National Planning * Policy Framework. The report considered all sources of flooding, extreme flood events and also climate change;

* Preparation of a Flood Warning and Evacuation Plan.

The assessment ensures that the development is safe from flooding and also ensures that it will not increase the risk of flooding elsewhere. A final report has been submitted to the client and will form part of the sites planning application.
