Code for Sustainable Homes, Barnoldswick, SUR 1 & 2
Jan 29, 2015

RAB has completed a Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) assessment in support of a residential development in Barnoldswick, Lancashire to achieve the CSH Level 3. The report considers SUR 1 – ‘Management of surface water’ and SUR 2 –‘Flood risk’.

Surface water drainage plans were provided by the client for this development and these were audited against the code criteria by RAB Consultants. The report concluded that as the man-made impermeable area on the site will decrease as a result of the development, in accordance with the plans provided, the peak rate of run-off and volume of run-off criterion do not apply. The development plans did however meet the mandatory requirements for designing for local system failure.

The report further concluded that one of the two available water quality criteria are available as appropriate water quality treatment stages are identified within the development plans.

The assessment also concluded that the flood risk to this site is appropriate for achieving the two maximum credits available under SUR 2.
