Flood Risk Assessment for Neasham, County Durham, North East England
Apr 2, 2013

RAB Consultants has recently completed a Flood Risk Assessment for a site located in the centre of Neasham, County Durham. The proposals involved the development of two residential dwellings.

The assessment involved the following:

* Completion of a Sequential and Exception Test;

* A site visit to assess flood risk within Neasham;

* A topographic survey of the site (relative to Ordnance Datum);

* Analysis of the Environment Agency data;

* Consultation with relevant bodies;

* Preparation of a Flood Risk Assessment report in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework. This * also included a Flood Warning and Evacuation Plan.

The report concluded that although the village of Neasham is located within the Environment Agency's Flood Zone 3 outline, Neasham benefits from the newly completed flood alleviation scheme. Defences offer a high standard of protection. Site-specific recommendations were also made in our report which has now been submitted to the Local Planning Authority for approval.
