Apr 29, 2013

RAB Consultants has recently completed a Flood Risk Assessment for a residential development in Newtown, Stockton-On-Tees.

The assessment involved the following:

*A site visit to assess flood risk within the Newtown area of Stockton-On-Tees;

*A topographic survey of the site and surrounding area (relative to Ordnance Datum);

*Analysis of the Environment Agency data & consultation with the Environment Agency;

*Preparation of a Flood Risk Assessment report in accordance with the National Planning *Policy Framework. This also included a Flood Warning and Evacuation Plan.

The report concluded that although the building is located within the Environment Agency's Flood Zone 2 outline. The topographic survey showed that the threshold of the building had sufficient freeboard above the 1% a.p. & climate change flood level and that there was a safe access/egress route away from the development during extreme flooding events. We recommended that the residents of the property sign up to receive the Environment Agency’s Floodline Warnings Direct service which is available to properties in Newtown.
