Property Level Flood Protection support to Gloucester City Council
May 14, 2013

RAB Consultants has recently completed Property Level Flood Protection (PLFP) surveys and reports for 30 properties on behalf of Gloucester City Council.

Key activities in this work included:

* Liaising with homeowners and setting up appointments to carry out household surveys;

* Undertaking property surveys to identify routes of water ingress;

* Identifying flood risk and specifying appropriate flood resistance/resilience measures to protect the individual dwelling against internal flooding;

* Preparation of individual householder reports;

* Engaging with homeowners, explaining flood resistance strategies and confirming homeowners participation and permission for implementing recommendations;

All surveying and report writing was in line with DEFRA’s Household-Level Flood Protection Surveys template identifying the flood risk.

The proposed installation works are due to commence over summer 2013.

Nick Chadwick, Gloucester City Council’s Project Manager said “RAB Consultants have provided an excellent service in helping to deliver property flood protection works for Gloucester City Council.

As well as carrying out the property surveys, we are using RAB Consultants to gain resident sign up to the proposed works, produce tender documentation and carry out post construction reviews.

Andy McHugh, their Senior Surveyor, has been very diligent in his approach; reports have been produced in a professional and expedient manner.

We will certainly be seeking to use their services on our upcoming property flood protection schemes."
