Flood Asset Inspections

The Flood and Water Management Act has placed responsibilities on Risk Management Authorities (RMAs) to share flood and coastal management information. Visual asset inspection and creation of asset registers is a vital process in the management of flood defences and structures, helping to assess performance and the likelihood of failure. RAB Consultants is the only visual asset inspection accreditor for the Environment Agency (EA) and we are expanding our asset inspection services to deliver T98 accreditation and mentoring to lead local flood authorities.

RAB’s T98 Accreditation Process and Course

In 2012 RAB Consultants was awarded a 5-year contract to manage the EA’s T98 accreditation process for all their flood asset inspectors across England and Wales. We are the only company providing T98 accreditation and mentoring to the EA.

Target Audience

The resultant T98 accreditation course has been designed for asset management/operational staff undertaking visual asset inspections.

Objectives

The course enables candidates to:

* understand the principles behind accurate asset inspections
* demonstrate that they have the requisite skills;
* practice the gathering and recording of inspection data;
* demonstrate their skills in gathering and recording of inspection data.

Course Detail

The course is made up of the following stages:

E-learning—introducing the principles and processes; E-assessment—marked by the course provider; Probationer/journeyman—involving supervised inspections; Field assessment—involving unsupervised inspections.

Cost—£1500 plus expenses for new inspector full accreditation.

Our Lichfield office is managing the contract with Russell Burton as Programme Director and Dr John Chatterton as Chief Assessor.
