RAB provide Visual Asset Inspection training to LLFAs in Wales
Nov 1, 2016

RAB Consultants has been providing Visual Asset Inspection training to Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFAs) across Wales this Autumn. This training has been coordinated by the Welsh Local Government Association with the aim for all Risk Management Authorities across Wales to record and grade the condition of their flood assets in a consistent way to aid information sharing.

The Flood and Water Management Act has placed responsibilities on Risk Management Authorities (RMAs) to share flood and coastal management information. Visual asset inspection and creation of asset registers is a vital process in the management of flood defences and structures, helping to assess performance and the likelihood of failure.

RAB Consultants are the only Visual Asset Inspection accreditor for the Environment Agency (EA) and we have expanded our asset inspection services to deliver T98 accreditation and mentoring to LLFAs. This includes inspecting watercourses, coastal defence structures and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).

To date we have trained 31 LLFA staff over three courses held in North and South Wales, with two more courses to be delivered in Spring 2017.

RAB offer similar courses throughout England and Scotland and if you would like to have your own fully trained and accredited asset inspectors, please contact Andrew McHugh at RAB’s Durham office.
